When it comes to ancient human civilization, one can’t dare to omit our country from the list of worth nothing nations and empires of the past. In fact, the history of mankind is the history of Ethiopia. True, Ethiopia is the cradle of mankind: it’s a well established fact that Ethiopia was the original home of Lucy and Ardi !!! Consequently, the coordination of human effort is as old as mankind. Still to date there are instances of the application of ancient civilizations like: the obelisk of Axum, the Rockhewn churches of Lalibella, the castle of Gondar, and the like.
The paradox, however, is that while, the rest, more or less, have become capable of consistently maintaining their pace to the contemporary scale of development, instead we have shamefully reduced ourselves to the extent of being ”dictionary best example” of what drought and famine mean. Fellow citizens, Is there any thing more shameful than this???
Ethiopia is one of the ancient countries with over three thousand years of history. The Ethiopian people have survived all foreign aggressions and maintained their sovereignty and independence all these years. When one observe this, one would notice the drive for independence that the Ethiopian people cherish so much. Nevertheless, the lust for independence observed in the political sphere is not, as one would expect, visible in the economic sphere.
To make matters worse, the situation in our country does not exhibit any sign of improvement over time till the present day of globalization. Instead, the fundamental problem of the lion’s share of Ethiopians has become fulfilling basic necessities of life. Read the rest of this entry »
